Diflucan Description
Diflucan (Fluconazole)
General information
Diflucan is an antibiotic of the antifungal group. It is prescribed for treatment of fungal infections. It can be used to treat vaginal, throat and fungal infections, infections of the urinary tract, peritonitis, and pneumonia.
Directions
It is recommended to take the medicine as it was prescribed by your doctor. Take it one time per day with or without food.
Precautions
Before starting your treatment with Diflucan tell your doctor about all conditions you may have: liver disease or kidney disease. Avoid drinking alcohol beverages. The medicine can make you dizzy, so be more attentive.
Contraindications
Patients with hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or other antifungal azole preparations, kidney and liver disorders, heart diseases, low blood levels of calcium, magnesium or potassium can't use the medicine.
Possible side effect
Hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes),severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, convulsions are common side effects. If you experience one of them contact your doctor.
Drug interaction
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time of the next intake just skip it and go back to your schedule.
Overdose
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. The overdose symptoms are confusion or unusual thoughts or behavior.
Storage
Store the medicine at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture, kids and pets.
